![]() Often these aren’t entirely successful and we have to do surgery. Some veterinarians will make a small cut in the swelling, drain it and place a catheter-type object to allow continued drainage at home. It involves draining the fluid out of the swelling and giving the pet an anti-inflammatory medication to see if we can get it to resolve on its own. However, conservative treatment is only really appropriate for small-sized haematomas the first time they’re seen. Often we will try conservative treatments before resorting to surgery. These can be split into surgical and non-surgical solutions Non-surgical treatment options There are a number of ways to treat aural haematomas. This self-trauma is what causes damage to the blood vessels, creating an aural haematoma. These all cause discomfort and irritation within the ear, which leads pets to vigorously shake their heads, rub and scratch at their ears. That said, irritation can also be caused by an allergic skin disease or by a foreign body (often a grass awn) that’s gotten stuck in the ear canal. Many pets have an associated ear infection (known as otitis) caused by bacteria, fungi, or parasites known as ear mites. Whenever we see a pet with an aural haematoma, we must look for the underlying cause, otherwise the problem is likely to recur despite appropriate treatment for the haematoma. The blood vessels are broken by trauma, normally from excessive head-shaking, rubbing or scratching at the ear. This creates a misshapen ear pinna, not dissimilar to the so-called cauliflower ear that we may see in rugby players. In chronic or untreated aural haematomas, what can happen is that the fluid components eventually reabsorb, but some abnormal tissue or fibrin remains and the skin and cartilage knit back together with this fibrous scar tissue in between. This creates the typical soft, fluid swelling within the ear pinna that we associate with acute aural haematomas. With an aural haematoma, some of the blood vessels break open and bleed, allowing blood and tissue fluid to accumulate between the skin and the cartilage. The ear pinna, which is the outside ear flap, is made up of cartilage sandwiched between two pieces of skin. ![]() So, an aural haematoma is a collection of blood in the ear. ![]() The clue is in the name ‘aural’ means ear-related, whilst a ‘haematoma’ is a collection of blood somewhere inside the body that it shouldn’t be, often because of trauma.

This allows it to play MP4, Ogg, and WebM, as well as WMV and FLV and MP3. Additionally, it injects support using plugins for unsupported codecs support. On the desktop, it supports all modern browsers with true HTML5 support and upgrades older browsers. On mobile systems (Android, iOS, WP7), MediaElement.js just uses the operating system’s UI. John cheekily refers to this as a fall “forward” rather than a fallback. This means that with MediaElement.js, even our old chum IE6 will function as if it supports and. Flash (or Silverlight, depending on what the user has installed) renders the media and then bubbles fake HTML5 events up to the browser. Instead of offering a bare bones Flash player as a fallback, it includes a custom player that mimics the entire HTML5 Media API. MediaElement.js takes a different approach. Secondly, you can’t use HTML5 Media events like “ended” or “timeupdate” to sync other elements on your page. First, you end up with two completely different playback UIs (one in HTML5 and one in Flash) that have to be skinned and styled independently. But there are two problems with this approach. Most HTML5 players get around this by injecting a completely separate Flash Player. The problem comes when you’re doing real world video and you need to support older browsers that don’t support native multimedia or browsers that don’t have the codec you’ve been given. Making an HTML5 player isn’t rocket surgery. MediaElement.js ( is a plugin developed by John Dyer (), a web developer for Dallas Theological Seminary. ![]() Most of you know by now that I have mild rosacea, so redness is a big issue for me (though I’m getting better, yay). There is definitely some decent coverage with one layer of foundation, which is good because Revlon Age Defying Firming+Lifting Makeup does not build very well at all. As far as coverage is concerned, Revlon Age Defying Firming+Lifting Makeup is light/medium coverage. (L’Oreal Infallible Pro Matte, incidentally, and it looked wonderful.) A really good pore filling primer can help, but Revlon Age Defying Firming+Lifting Makeup definitely emphasizes problems with skin texture. I had to wash it off and apply a different foundation instead. That is, until I put on Revlon Age Defying Firming+Lifting Makeup and suddenly it looked like I had a neon sign to proclaim my problem skin to the world. They weren’t red or very big, so they weren’t too terribly noticeable unless you were up close. When I was in NC last month, I had an allergic reaction that caused me to break out into tiny bumps all over the lower part of my face and my neck. However, if you have large pores, fine lines, acne scars, bumps or divots then you will want to stay away. If you have smooth, evenly textured skin then you should have no problem getting a lovely smooth finish with Revlon Age Defying Firming+Lifting Makeup. I am specifically talking about textural issues. Although Revlon Age Defying Firming+Lifting Makeup is targeted toward aging skin, the formula does not handle skin imperfection well at all. In general, though, it may be more trouble than it’s worth. On one hand, the formula has some major problems, but under certain circumstances I do actually really like the look of Revlon Age Defying Firming+Lifting Makeup. ![]() As far as the formula is concerned, I am of two minds. It has a pump style applicator, which is my personal preference. Revlon Age Defying Firming+Lifting Makeup comes in a glass bottle and is 1 fl oz of product.
